Did you know that Earth Day is celebrating it's 55th Anniversary this year? In 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, who had long been concerned about the deteriorating environment in the US, collaborated with Congressman Pete McCloskey & the young activist Denis Hayes to kick start what would become Earth Day.
Volunteer to help Potomac Conservancy at their annual Earth Day cleanup at Winding Creek Park in Silver Spring. The Potomac Conservancy is our region's leading clean water advocate. Working tirelessly to improve the Potomac's water quality, they strive to impart change at the local level.
